What We Do In Bognor Regis

Electrical Fault Finding

A fault in one of the subdivided villas around Hotham Park can show up three rooms from its cause. We test from the board outwards and find the actual failure point, not just the nearest symptom.

RCD & Fuse Box Tripping

A board that drops out every evening in a busy season let, or a split-load unit on one of the newer Bersted estates taken down by a single appliance: we find which circuit is pulling everything else over and settle it.

Complete or Partial Power Loss

Whole house dark, or half the sockets dead while the lights still work. We find where the supply stops and restore what we safely can.

Sparking or Damaged Sockets

Season lets and student houses put sockets through more plugging and unplugging in a year than most homes see in ten. Cracked faceplates, loose terminals and scorched pins get isolated, tested and replaced properly.

Emergency Lighting Repairs

Guesthouses, HMOs and the flats above the London Road shops all depend on emergency lighting that works when it is tested. We repair failed fittings, batteries and circuits and leave you evidence for the fire risk assessment.

Damaged Cables & Wiring

Long garden runs to workshops and summerhouses, cables nicked during loft conversions, rodent damage in older roof spaces: we locate the break, repair or re-run the cable and test it before it goes live again.

Who We Are

Qualified Electricians,
Answering at Any Hour

Electrical faults don't always happen during normal working hours, so we provide emergency electrical cover across Bognor Regis day and night. We can offer immediate guidance over the phone, including whether a circuit or appliance should be switched off until the problem has been inspected.

Repairs are undertaken to BS 7671 requirements and qualifying work is notified under Part P where necessary. If further remedial work is recommended, you'll know what is involved and the expected cost before proceeding.

Common Call-Outs

Common Electrical
Emergencies in Bognor Regis

These are the problems we are most frequently asked to attend. If the fault you are experiencing is not listed, we are happy to discuss it and advise how urgent it is.

  • Consumer unit tripping repeatedly
  • RCD refusing to reset
  • Half the property without power
  • Smell of burning at a socket
  • Humming or buzzing fuse board
  • Lighting that flickers
  • Sockets or switches sparking
  • Wiring exposed to water
  • Cut or damaged cable
  • No supply at all

While You Wait For Us

Where the consumer unit is safely accessible, the affected circuit should be switched off and left off. Please also unplug whatever was in use at the time the fault developed.

Please do not handle damaged cable or a socket showing signs of heat damage, and keep clear of any wiring that has been exposed to water. Repeatedly resetting a tripped breaker will not resolve the underlying cause.

Where smoke or a burning smell is present, or a fire is suspected, evacuate the property and contact the emergency services first.

Fault Finding

Finding the Fault,
Not Just the Symptom

An intermittent trip that behaves perfectly while you are watching still has a cause. We work through the installation circuit by circuit with proper test equipment, so the repair fixes what is actually wrong rather than guessing at it.

What To Expect

How an Emergency Call-Out Works

01

Call Us

Tell us what has gone wrong. The call is answered by a qualified electrician rather than a message service.

02

Arrival & Pricing

Before travelling we confirm how long the nearest electrician will be, along with the rate for attending.

03

Test & Diagnose

The affected circuit is isolated first, then tested properly so the cause is identified rather than assumed.

04

Repair or Make Safe

The majority of jobs are completed the same visit. Where they cannot be, the installation is made safe before we leave.

One photo of your fuse board
saves twenty questions

Text us a picture of the board, and of anything scorched or wet, before we set out, and the engineer walks in already knowing what they are dealing with.

Sudden Power Loss

What's Actually Tripping Your Fuse Box?

A board that drops is reporting a fault, not creating one. Six causes account for nearly everything we find behind it.

Read Our Power Loss Guide → 0333 360 6904

Whole house has no power

Total loss puts the cause between the network's cut-out and your main switch. We take a reading at the head, then across the tails, then at the switch terminals. Whichever pair reads nothing is where the work begins, and if that is the sealed fuse the supplier attends.

Half the sockets have stopped working

Either one socket circuit has lost supply by itself, or the residual device covering that group has released and taken its neighbours with it. Opening the board answers that immediately. Establishing what caused the release is the longer part of the visit.

Outside sockets not working

Outdoor accessories fail at the seal. A perished gasket or a split lid lets water reach the terminals, and the resulting earth current often shows up indoors as well. Damaged buried cable is the other candidate, and that needs locating before anything is dug.

RCD keeps tripping when it rains

Weather-linked tripping means water has reached something outside: a lamp, a joint box, or the supply running to a shed. Wet insulation passes current to earth, so we test while everything is still damp. Readings taken after a dry spell frequently come back clean and prove nothing at all.

Lighting circuit keeps tripping

Lighting draws too little to overload, so a short is far more likely. A lamp failing at switch-on will do it, and so will a fixing screw driven into cable above a ceiling. Whether the breaker or the residual device released tells us which of the two to chase.

Power trips when the washing machine is on

Timing gives it away. A release several minutes into the cycle points at the heater breaking down as it warms. A release as the drum first turns points at the motor or the mains filter. The machine is tested away from the installation so the answer is not a guess.

Nothing gets handed back live with a known fault on it. We put the sound circuits back into service, then deal with the cause so the next wet spell passes without drama.

Emergency Repairs

Making the Property Safe
Comes First

On arrival, the immediate priority is safe isolation of the affected circuit. Once the danger has been removed, supply is restored to the parts of the installation that test healthy so that the property is not left without power unnecessarily.

Only then does the diagnostic work begin. Faults are located using test instruments, and the repair is priced and agreed with you once the cause has been confirmed.

Questions

FAQs Made Simple

FIND YOUR ANSWERS
Can you work on the electrics at a static or park home?

On the fixed supply side, yes: the site pedestal or hook-up point, the isolator, the supply cable and the consumer unit inside the home. Park homes have their own section of BS 7671, and faults tend to sit at the connection points where salt and movement take their toll. If the fault turns out to be on the site owner's network, we tell you straight and put it in writing so you can take it to them.

My holiday let has a fault and guests arrive tomorrow. Can you fit around the changeover?

Changeover pressure is most of our holiday-let work in Bognor. Tell us the access arrangement when you call, keysafe, agent or neighbour, and we aim for the gap between guests. If a full fix is not possible in time, we make the let safe and give you an honest view on whether it should be occupied that night.

Can you come out tonight?

Yes. We run a 24 hour rota that covers evenings, weekends and bank holidays. Call and you get a real arrival window before anyone sets off, not a vague promise.

Why do my outside sockets and garden lights near the seafront keep failing?

Salt air, almost every time. Within a few hundred metres of the front, corrosion attacks terminals, seizes socket covers and lets damp track into fittings that would last decades inland. We replace them with coastal-grade IP-rated fittings and, where the circuit lacks it, add RCD protection so the next failure trips safely instead of sitting live.
