The faults we get called out to most, day and night. If your problem isn't listed, ring us anyway — we'll tell you straight away whether it needs an electrician tonight or can wait until morning.

Electrical Fault Finding

Intermittent and hidden faults traced with proper test equipment, so the repair fixes the cause rather than the symptom.

RCD & Fuse Box Tripping

An RCD that won't reset, or a consumer unit tripping every time you plug something in. We isolate the offending circuit and make it safe.

Complete or Partial Power Loss

Sparking or Damaged Sockets

Scorch marks, a socket that's warm to the touch, or sparking when you unplug. Stop using it and call — this one shouldn't wait.

Emergency Lighting Repairs

Lighting circuits that trip, flickering fittings, or failed emergency lighting in a commercial premises that needs putting right.

Damaged Cables & Wiring

Cables cut during building work, rodent damage in a loft, or wiring soaked after a leak. We isolate, repair and re-test.

Common Electrical Emergencies

These are the calls we take most often. Any of them is worth a phone call — several of them shouldn't wait until morning.

  • Fuse box keeps tripping
  • RCD will not reset
  • Half the house has no power
  • Burning smell from a socket
  • Buzzing consumer unit
  • Flickering lights
  • Sparking switches or sockets
  • Water near electrical wiring
  • Damaged or cut cable
  • Complete power loss

While You Wait For Us

If it is safe to reach, switch off the affected circuit at the consumer unit and leave it off. Unplug the appliance you were using when the fault appeared.

Do not touch damaged cable, a scorched socket or anything wet near wiring, and do not keep resetting a breaker that trips straight back — it is tripping for a reason.

If you can smell burning, see smoke or suspect a fire, leave the property and call the emergency services first.

Fault Finding

Finding the Fault,
Not Just the Symptom

An intermittent trip that behaves perfectly while you're watching still has a cause. We work through the installation circuit by circuit with proper test equipment, so the repair fixes what's actually wrong rather than guessing at it.

No Electricity?

Lost Power or Is Your Fuse Box Tripping?

Whether it's the whole property or a single circuit, the cause is usually traceable. Here's what we look for at a glance.

See how we diagnose it → 0333 3543 786

Complete power loss

Nothing anywhere. We check whether the supply has failed before the consumer unit or after it.

Partial power loss

Upstairs works, downstairs doesn't. Usually one circuit that has tripped and won't stay in.

One circuit dead

Sockets in a single room with no power, often after an appliance fault or a nail through a cable.

RCD tripping

An RCD that drops as soon as it's reset is detecting an earth fault somewhere on the circuits it protects.

MCB or RCBO tripping

Points to an overload or a short on that specific circuit rather than the whole installation.

Trips when an appliance runs

A washing machine, shower or kettle that trips the board is often the fault itself, not the wiring.

Whatever the cause, we aim to diagnose it and make the installation safe as quickly as possible — where a full repair needs parts or daylight, we'll restore everything we safely can and book the follow-up before we leave.

FAQs Made Simple

FIND YOUR ANSWERS
What counts as an electrical emergency?

A burning smell, scorch marks, sparking sockets, a fuse box that trips the moment you reset it, water reaching wiring, or any loss of power affecting heating, medical equipment or security. If you're not sure, ring us — advice over the phone costs nothing.

How quickly can an emergency electrician arrive?

Our average arrival time across the service area is under 60 minutes, day or night. You'll be given a realistic window when you call rather than a guess, and we'll tell you if we're further out.

How much does an emergency electrician cost?

You're told the call-out rate before anyone sets off, and the cost of any repair is confirmed after we've diagnosed the fault and before we carry on. There are no surprise out-of-hours mark-ups added afterwards.

Can you attend during the night or at weekends?

Yes. Evenings, weekends and bank holidays are covered, and the phone is answered by an electrician rather than an answering service.

Can you help landlords and letting agents?

Yes. We take call-outs directly from tenants where you'd prefer, and provide a written record of what was found and what was done so it can go straight into your property file.

Do you provide commercial emergency call-outs?

Yes — shops, offices, restaurants and other commercial premises, including distribution board faults and emergency lighting. Where downtime matters we can often attend before opening or overnight.

Looking for something more specific? Our fault finding, RCD & fuse box tripping, power loss, socket, lighting and cable repair pages each answer the questions specific to that fault in more depth.
